OUR MISSION

Dirty Paws Rescue is an all-volunteer  organization  dedicated to the rescue of any dogs in need and matching each with  appropriate and responsible owners.

RESCUE
Prevent the  euthanasia  of any dog which can be matched with an adoptive home

  • To rescue dogs from shelters, Animal  Control  and other facilities threatening euthanasia
  • To rescue pets from suffering, cruelty  and  neglectful situations
  • To offer a safer option to rehoming pets and  educate  people about their responsibility as a pet owner

REHABILITATION
Provide basic level of training and correct any behavioral problems for dogs in our program.

  • Evaluate the temperament of our dogs to ensure that  only  dogs with stable temperaments are placed in new homes and  they are placed in the  homes that best suit the needs of the dog  and the family adopting.
  • Each  dog receive training specific to their individual  needs. They  are taught basic house manners, house training, crate training,  introduced to the leash and socialized to every day situations,  other animals  and children.
  • To  provide them with excellent medical attention  including all necessary vaccines,  testing for Heartworm, Spay/Neuter,  De-Worming, starting them  on Heartworm and flea & tick preventative, and  Microchipping.

PLACEMENT
Provide a safe home  that is compatible and meets the needs of the dog as well as the  family.

  • Screen potential home to ensure they are safe by  requiring  an application, doing a background check, phone interview and home  visit before adoption takes place.
  • Ensure  the dogs leaving our rescue are healthy and happy  and continue  that life style in their new homes.
  • Contact  adopters periodically to see how the dog is doing  and offer any  help needed.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE
To educate potential & current adopters and to help owners make appropriate decisions about training, housing and care.

  • Provide training instruction and offer other solutions  for the owners of dogs with correctable behavior problems rather  then  surrendering them to shelters.
  • To  educate the public about Spaying/Neutering and proper  pet care
  • To educate people about the  BSL laws and how to help  prevent it from happening in our area

Dirty Paws is a small organization, we have few volunteers and always looking for new members!! We have been working in rescue for a few years but Dirty Paws has only been up and running since October of 2005.

Since October 2005 we have rescued over 300 pets and found them new homes and we are still going strong.

We dedicate all of our time to saving as many lives as we can. We rescue pets from shelters, pounds, animal control and occasionally take in owner surrenders if we have the space. All of  our money comes from our own pockets and the adoption fees of pets that have already found wonderful homes. We do not profit from the adoption fees that we take from the pets that find their new homes, all adoption fees are used to care for the next pet in need.

We throughly screen every person that applies for a pet from us, they must have good personal references and an outstanding vet reference. We want to ensure that every pet gets the best home for them and they will get nothing but the best care for the rest of their lives. After being approved we have a phone interview and from there will arrange a personal meeting. Because we rescue different breeds, our adoption fees vary for age, breed, pure/mixed, and vetting.

All of our pets are fully vetted before leaving us, that includes Spay/Neuter, D.H.P.P.C. Shots, Bordetella Shot, Rabies Shot, Worming, Flea Treatment, Heart Worm Test,
Grooming, 30 days of FREE ShelterCare Insurance and any other personal vetting they may need.

All pets are fostered in our homes so you will need to fill out an application and have it approved before being allowed to see our pets.

Volenteers are always welcome, please e-mail for a volenteer form if you are interested in helping!!

We strive to make sure every rescue gets the perfect home. We do not run on a first come first serve basis and we take the time to interview and screen every applicant. We try our best to make sure not only our rescued pets are happy but their new families are as well. Please feel free to contact us for information or questions.

Here is a wonderful film that shows you just one of the many reasons rescues do what we do. If you love the little creatures of this world please watch this short (3 min) film. We simply want to get the word out to as many people as possible what happens to animals when people stop caring. Make sure your sound is up ...

Warning:
A few of the images are a little hard to watch, but it is the sad reality of what happens in an average shelter.
